My Story
I had more blessings than challenges. The hard conversations with my parents were not fun, but they were never off limits. I worked for years to build trust with them, so the things most families avoid could be said out loud.
Then I started talking with my friends in the sandwich generation. That's when I learned how easy I had it. Their parents would not talk about health, money, or what comes next. My friends were guessing, worrying, and carrying it alone.
I began writing this book in January 2026 with those friends in mind. By the end of May, I had said my last I love you to my sweet mama.
I kept writing. I put as much of our real dialog into these pages as I could. Finishing the book was healing, and it gave me a purpose and a way to carry them with me. Also, to honor my parents by helping other families have the conversations we were lucky enough to have.
The book is just about finished, and I'm ready to share it with the people who need it most.
The families you serve are the families I wrote this book for. I would love to partner with you in Let's Start Talking, an initiative of The Silent Gap. Together, we can support adult children and aging parents through an emotional journey, and offer clarity as they navigate the decisions, the paperwork, and the goodbyes.
